Justin Mohn charged with murder after allegedly beheading father, posting video on YouTube

A 32-year-old individual murdered his father in their home in Middletown Township on Tuesday and subsequently shared a video on YouTube where he was seen holding his father’s severed head. Identified as Justin Mohn from the 100 block of Upper Orchard Drive, he was apprehended in Fort Indiantown Gap, Lebanon County, several hours after the incident. Mohn was formally charged early Wednesday with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and possession of a weapon. Magisterial District Judge Lisa J. Gaier presided over his arraignment and ordered him detained at Bucks County Correctional Facility without bail.

The Middletown Township Police responded to a call at 145 Upper Orchard Drive in Levittown around 7 p.m. that Tuesday reporting a deceased male, made by the victim’s wife. Upon arrival, officers discovered an elderly male in the downstairs bathroom, decapitated and surrounded by blood. A machete and a large knife were found in the bathtub. The victim’s head was discovered in a plastic bag inside a cooking pot in a first-floor bedroom adjacent to the bathroom. Bloody rubber gloves were found in another bedroom and in a trashcan next to a desk in that room. The victim, identified as 68-year-old Michael F. Mohn, resided in the home with his wife and their adult son, Justin Mohn, who was not present when police arrived. The victim's wife indicated that she had last seen her husband and son at approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday, and noticed their absence along with her husband’s white 2009 Toyota Corolla upon her return home.

Subsequently, police were alerted to a 14-minute video uploaded to YouTube, featuring Justin Mohn wearing similar rubber gloves to those found at the crime scene, handling his father's decapitated head. Justin Mohn was stopped and taken into custody by the Fort Indiantown Gap Police Department shortly afterward. The investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Middletown Township Police Department, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Fort Indiantown Gap Police Department. Prosecution of the case has been assigned to Deputy District Attorney Ashley C. Towhey and Assistant District Attorney Christine Sassane.
