Boston Marathon 2024 Winners? See top finishers from the race

People from over 100 countries participated in today's 128th Boston Marathon. Among the nearly 30,000 runners who completed the race at Boylston, only a small number will win prizes and be crowned champions. Here are the winners.

Men's professional division:

  • Sisay Lemma, from Ethiopia, completed the race in 2:06:17.
  • Mohamed Esa, from Ethiopia, completed in 2:06:58.
  • Evans Chebet, from Kenya, completed the course in 2:07:22. He previously won the Boston Marathon in 2022 and 2023.

Women's professional division:

  • Hellen Obiri, from Kenya, completed the race in 2:22:37. It's her second consecutive Boston Marathon win.
  • Sharon Lokedi, from Kenya, completed in 2:22:45.
  • Edna Kiplagat, from Kenya, completed in 2:23:21.
Hellen Obiri successfully defended her title in the women's race at the Boston Marathon. She sprinted ahead of Sharon Lokedi, another Kenyan, on Boylston Street and won by a margin of eight seconds. Obiri's victory marked the first time a woman has won consecutive Boston Marathons since 2005. She completed the race on Monday in 2 hours, 22 minutes, and 37 seconds.

Obiri expressed that defending her title was a challenging task, given the elite company she aimed to join as one of the few women to achieve this feat in Boston's history. She credited her hard work for this achievement, stating that she is now proud to be among those in the history books of the Boston Marathon.

During the race, the 34-year-old Obiri broke away from a group of runners in the second half and then held off a strong challenge from Sharon Lodeki in the final three miles to secure the win. The podium saw a complete sweep by Kenyan athletes, with Lodeki finishing second in 2 hours, 22 minutes, and 45 seconds, and two-time champion Edna Kiplagat taking third place with a time of 2 hours, 23 minutes, and 21 seconds. Kiplagat had finished 30th in the previous year's race.
