Ayla Majid makes history as ACCA's first Pakistani president
Ayla Majid, an experienced leader in energy, sustainability, and governance, will oversee a global network of over 252,000 members and 526,000 aspiring members across 180 countries during her one-year term.
This milestone highlights ACCA's growth as it celebrates its 120th anniversary and surpasses the significant benchmark of a quarter of a million members. Ayla Majid aims to bring a forward-thinking perspective to the role, focusing on transforming the future of the accountancy profession through strategic innovation and leadership.
Ayla Majid, the founder of Planetive Middle East and Planetive Pakistan, brings over two decades of expertise in energy, transaction advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. She is a recognized international speaker, known for her focus on energy, decarbonization, and climate technology, particularly in emerging markets.
In a statement, Majid highlighted her vision for the profession: "The accountancy profession is dynamic and evolving. We aim to make it an exciting, purposeful career choice by embracing sustainability and social value. I look forward to reshaping perceptions as technology becomes a driving force."
During her tenure, Majid plans to steer the profession toward a future centered on sustainability, strategic foresight, and enhanced stakeholder collaboration. Her efforts also include positioning accountancy as a compelling and impactful career choice.
Her leadership is particularly historic, as she joins Deputy President Melanie Proffitt and Vice-President Datuk Zaiton Mohd Hassan in creating the first all-women leadership team in ACCA’s history.
