Zay Flowers loses the fumble into the end zone, but the Chiefs maintain their lead at 17-7.

In the AFC championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens rookie receiver Zay Flowers made critical errors that cost his team valuable points.

The pivotal mistake occurred early in the fourth quarter with the Ravens trailing 17-7. Flowers attempted to reach the ball into the end zone in an effort to score a touchdown, which would have narrowed the deficit to three points. Unfortunately, cornerback L'Jarius Sneed disrupted the play, knocking the ball out of Flowers' hands inside the 1-yard line, leading to a fumble recovery by the Chiefs.

Prior to this costly fumble, Flowers had been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for taunting. After a 54-yard reception from Lamar Jackson, Flowers spun the ball while standing directly above Sneed, who had tackled him. This penalty, among many committed by the undisciplined Ravens throughout the game, resulted in a 15-yard setback for Baltimore.

Adding to the sequence of events, Flowers seemed to injure a finger on his left hand when he forcefully slammed it on a bench following the fumble.

Flowers, a first-round draft pick, was the Ravens' leading receiver this season in both catches and receiving yards.
